Game 4: How do you Beat a Jerkface in the Habs/Caps Series?

April 23, 2010 – 2:31 pm |

I really hate Alexander Ovechkin. Not just in the series, but overall. As he’s exciting on the ice, his taunting and ego trips are getting to the Canadiens and myself. The hot-dogging will one day get him knocked cold from behind but in the meantime, no one has been able to solve it since game one. On the other hand, the Canadiens haven’t figured out Semyon Varlamov. This guy only comes out when there’s a playoff series when it matters and is unstoppable.

Game 3: The Meltdown in Front of Jean Beliveau

April 20, 2010 – 12:03 pm |

Game 3 had good momentum and good vibes as prior to the game, I decided to wander around the Fan Zone in front of the Bell Centre. The Fan Zone is where they close off the street so fans in jerseys can eat $4 hot dogs, $6 beer and hang out in front of the live RDS/TSN feed. To hear a second rate band play covers incorporating “Go Habs Go” in each lyric.

Game 2: I watch the Canadiens lose in Overtime and all I Got was this Lousy T-Shirt

April 19, 2010 – 2:22 am |

I knew that the Habs from last week would return, with only 2 minutes to spare, leading by one, we had been able to deal and contain with the Alex Ovechkin situation. However, we forgot about the Nicklas Backstrom problem then pow! Welcome to overtime #2.

However, this time it didn’t go in out favor. It went the same way as game 2 started: the first minute of the period with a goal, only this time it belonged to the Caps.

Game one: Thank you for the Heart Attack Hockey

Who knew? Who knew that The Montreal Canadiens had it in them to deliver in game one. This was a game we needed to win, to at least get one in Washington. But this, it was one for the ages. For once this mediocre team was able to challenge the Goliath of all teams and knock them down, including the most exciting player in the league/jerkface in my eyes: Alex Ovechkin.

Part 2: The Be All and End all of 2010 Hockey Playoff Survival

So we made it, after 82 games we finally are playing the real season. The last 6 months were a mere formality to watch what is dubbed the “real season”. It’s 2 more months of beer, yelling at TVs and the occasional riot. Can’t say much for the Vancouver Canucks as they have a beer curfew because of one too many celebrations during the Olympics. Then again, it’s going to take more than beer to watch Vancouver Canucks hockey.

Saturday night: sitting in a bar downtown yelling at a TV. Out of all the bars in the heart of Montreal, I choose the one with all the Leaf fans. My beer is warm, will be pissed if Toronto wins, they are possibly the worst winners I’ve ever encountered. It’s overtime, all we need is to get a point to qualify for the post season. One stupid point.
